understanding a teen's brain development

16 november 2015

A teen's brain functions much different from an adult brain. During the adolescent years, a teen's frontal cortex is not fully developed. This causes them to exercise poor judgement and the inability to make appropriate decisions. Many adolescents will exhibit the following:

  • Impulsive behavior;
  • Engage in risky  behavior;
  • Struggles with socialization;
  • Easily angered;
  • More likely to get involved with fighting.
